About Me
I was born in a tiny town in Georgia, raised in Texas, and have lived all over the world.
For nearly a decade, I served as a Military Police officer in various units around the world. I deployed three separate times to the Middle East, working largely in a law enforcement capacity. My time in Iraq and Kuwait seriously changed my perspective on a lot of things. Now, I write about my experiences in the military, my time as a graduate student, and my life abroad. I studied history and philosophy as an undergraduate at The University of South Alabama, so I have opinions on quite a few topics. I also hold an MA from The University of Texas' Center for Middle Studies. Just for kicks, I studied Arabic and Hebrew at Middlebury.
Photographs I have taken along my journeys accompany my writing. They tell a story, too. Most photos you see were taken by myself or my wife. My wife and I met in Alabama in 2014 while I was in my final semester at South Alabama (Go Jags!). We have been inseparable ever since. She followed me to Austin so I could pursue my graduate degree (Hook 'Em!). Like me, she has traveled the world during her time in the Navy. She also takes amazing photographs. Some of my favorites I have shared here for everyone to enjoy.
I am a writer and social commentator. My opinions are my own, but the facts are the facts regardless of anyone's perspective.
